The Hanson Beavers hosted the Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans in a Region 5A championship game on Saturday, March 8.

The Beavers easily defeated the Titans, 77-42, and advanced to the SoDak 16.

Hanson jumped out to a 26-9 lead in the first quarter. In the second, the Beavers added to their lead by putting up 14 points to the Titans seven points. Halftime score was Hanson 40, MVP 16.

In the second half, the Beavers extended their lead by outscoring the Titans, 23-17, in the third and 14-9 in the fourth.

Leading the team in scoring was AJ Wilber with 19 points followed by Ben Wilber with 16. Sutton Dewald cashed in 15 points while Tye Hernandez had nine points. Carter Popp added eight points.

Dewald dished out eight assists in the game while Hernandez had four assists.

B. Wilber pulled down nine rebounds to lead the team in rebounding. Dewald grabbed six boards while Popp and A. Wilber had five rebounds apiece.

Defensively, Hernandez marked two steals in the game and A. Wilber had two steals and one block.

With the win, the Beavers improved their record to 14-6.

The Beavers enter the SoDak 16 as the number 16 seed and face the number four seed, West Central Trojans, on Tuesday, March 11, in Madison.
