Four Hanson wrestlers traveled to Parkston on Saturday, January 25, to compete in the Parkston Little B Wrestling Tournament.

In the boys’ division, Jason Porth wrestled in the 157 pound weight class. Porth had a bye in his first match. In his second match, Porth lost by fall (3:03) to Tanner Baker of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney. Next match for Porth was a bye. Porth won by technical fall (16-1) in his fourth match against Lennox Rumpca of Webster Area. In his next match, Porth lost by major decision (13-1) to Quayden Culbert of Parkston. With a 3-2 tournament record, Porth advanced to the fifth place match against Cael Schipper of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock. Porth won by fall (4:17) over Schipper, placing fifth overall.

Westin Switzer wrestled in the 190 weight class. Switzer had a bye in his first match and lost by fall (0:21) to Josh Kannegieter of Clark/Willow Lake. Switzer won by fall (2:02) over Jackson Runyon of Scotland in his third match. In his final match, Switzer fell (0:32) to Isaac Nelson of Webster Area.

In the girls’ division, Sage Haiar (114 pound weight class) fell (3:55) to Hadley Gjerde of Clark/Willow Lake in her first match. Haiar won by forfeit in her second match. Next, Haiar lost by fall (2:52) to Cadence Bochek of Clark/Willow Lake. In her final match, Haiar lost by fall (0:39) to Bailey Yost of Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington. Haiar placed fourth overall.

Kathryn Jarding wrestled in the 138 pound weight class and placed second overall. Jarding won by fall (5:28) over Chyanne Guerdet of Clark/Willow Lake. Next, Jarding defeated Randi Norgaard of Ethan/Parkston in overtime, 18-15. In her final match, Jarding fell (0:44) to Camille Rearick of Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington.
